Recognitions

We celebrated several student groups at the board meeting, beginning with our Fall Sports Academic All-State recipients. To earn this distinction, students must maintain an overall GPA of 92 or higher while balancing the demands of athletics, academics, and leadership responsibilities. The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) evaluates nominees based on GPA, class rank, and standardized test scores, ensuring this honor is reserved for truly dedicated student-athletes.

UIL State Congressional & All-State Choir

We also celebrated our UIL State Congressional Tournament qualifier and members of our UIL All-State Choir Team. These students represent the very best of what is happening at Whitehouse ISD, and we are proud to recognize their hard work, dedication, and outstanding accomplishments.

INFORMATION ITEMS

Teacher Spotlight

Dr. Jacobs introduced one of our exceptional AIM Center teachers, Josh Dickerson, who shared insights into what it’s like to teach at the AIM Center. Mr. Dickerson discussed stories of hope and the unique challenges and rewards of supporting students on campus.

Transportation Routing and School Start Times Study

We reviewed a study conducted by an independent third party that examined routing and fleet optimization, along with a data analysis of how bell times affect student ridership. The study also identified potential cost-saving measures that would maintain service quality while making slight adjustments to school start and dismissal times. This was discussed as an informational item only, as the district continues to explore ways to improve the overall student experience.

Drop Out Prevention Presentation

Dr. Helm presented on the creation of Whitehouse Academy, set to open next year. The campus will be housed at the AIM Center and is designed to serve students who are over-age, credit-deficient, or who have unique circumstances. Whitehouse Academy will provide an opportunity to meet students where they are, offering hope through a non-traditional learning environment and helping create a brighter future for every student.

Dr. Jennings gave notice of our intent to apply for the 2026-2028 Innovative Services for Students with Autism Grant authorized by the 89th Legislature
